I created this powerful painting without having a clue on where it would lead. I painted her dress gold and a friend told me it reminded her of Oshun the African Goddess.
Oshun (also spelled Osun) is a revered Yoruba river goddess associated with love, fertility, beauty, and fresh water. She is one of the Orishas, divine spirits in the Yoruba religion, which originates from West Africa — particularly Nigeria — and has spread throughout the African diaspora in places like Brazil, Cuba, and Haiti.
So I added the quote and created this piece on 9x12 watercolor paper
