Billy Strings is a Grammy-winning bluegrass guitarist, singer, and songwriter who’s redefining the genre for a new generation. With lightning-fast picking, soulful vocals, and a fearless approach to improvisation, he’s become one of the most electrifying live performers in modern American music.
I created this portrait of Billy after I finished my Appalachian Trail hike in 2021. I decided after returning home from my nearly 7 month journey that going to see Billy at the Arena in Wilkes-Barre for his fall tour was a great idea.
So I created this painting and my very own poster and went out in the parking lot to sell them both.
I was fine until the show, after being in the woods for so long, it didnt take me long to feel the energy of the crowd before the show started, which lead me to become overstimulated.
But Billy and the boys took to the stage and began to play, just like that Grateful Dead lyric,
“If you get confused listen to the music play”
The music started and my anxiety subsided and I danced the night away.
